France’s Mike Lorenzo-Vera is on track to make some noise this week in his WGC debut. The 32-year-old comes in making six cuts in a row, the last a T10 at the Italian Open, a European Tour Rolex Series event. The span also includes a T9 at the D+D Real Czech Masters and a T20 at the British Masters, another Rolex event.

His year includes three other top-10s, the best being a T3 in his home event at the HNA Open de France, yet again another Rolex tournament. He’s 14-for-17 in cuts made in 2017 and he made the cut (T62) at his major championship debut at the Open Championship.

Lorenzo-Vera isn’t an elite ball striker, but he’s one of the better putters in the field as he’s averaged 1.8 or fewer putts per GIR each year of his career on the European Tour.

In his first trip to China, Lorenzo-Vera finished T33 at the Shenzhen International and T11 at the Volvo China Open.

If he wants any shot at making the 2018 Ryder Cup in France, playing well here in Sheshan will be a good start.
