WGC-HSBC Champions: Top five sleeper picks

After spending his first five years as a professional in Europe, Uihlein stormed through the Web.com Tour playoffs this fall to earn his PGA Tour card.

The former Oklahoma State Cowboy is making his WGC debut this week. He comes in off of a T10 two weeks ago at the CIMB Classic. A 73 downed his chances of winning, but he closed strong with three rounds in the 60s to post a good finish.

For the year, primarily on the European Tour, Uihlein has made 20 of 25 cuts with a win in the Web playoffs, a runner-up at the HNA Open de France and five other top-10s.

This will be Uihlein’s second start in China this year as he tied for 31st at the Volvo China Open in the spring.

It’s been perhaps a bit slower rise to prominence than some envisioned for the former US Amateur Champ, but Uihlein can continue his rise with a big week in China.
