LAS VEGAS, NV – OCTOBER 02: Kevin Na poses with the trophy after his two-stroke victory after the final round of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at the TPC Summerlin on October 2, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images) /

This week is a home game for Las Vegas resident, Kevin Na. He won in his backyard in 2011 and has a pretty impressive overall resume at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open: T24 in 2006, T17 in 2007, T15 in 2008, T45 in 2010, first in 2011, T22 in 2012, MC in 2013, WD in 2014, T2 in 2015 and MC in 2016.

Na was 34th in birdie average on Tour last season. He knows what the game plan is going to be at TPC Summerlin.

“This golf course you have to get off to a good start,” Na was quoted by the Associated Press after his win in 2011. “The reason why is because like all the guys out here say, ‘You have to go low, and if you’re not making birdies, somebody else is.’ So, if you’re even par through six you feel like you’re two shots behind everybody, and it puts more pressure into your back nine.”

Na comes in with a week off after playing the first two legs of the Asian swing, where he placed T44 at the CIMB Classic and T47 at the CJ Cup, both 78-player fields with no cut.

Before that, Na made five cuts in a row and had a T4 at the Wyndham Championship and a T6 at the Dell Technologies Championship. He’s had some close calls since, but Na hasn’t won since his maiden victory in 2011. If he can shake off a mediocre run in Asia, there’s not much else going against the 34-year-old this week.
