The ‘barnrat keeps raking in the dough. The 28-year-old Thai comes in off of a T24 last week at the WGC-HSBC Champions. That was his fourth top-25 in a row, one of which was a T2 at the Italian Open where he was in the mix to win late on Sunday.
Aphibarnrat mourned with the rest of his nation over the death of Thailand’s king of over 70 years. He used the mourning as motivation to shoot 65 the next day in China. “I’m confident with my swing, and the way I’m striking the ball and rolling the putts on the greens,” Aphibarnrat was quoted last week by Golf Channel’s Will Gray.
If he can keep it together this week, he can tally another top-25, if not better. He was T25 last year with all four rounds at par or better.
Aphibarnrat has hit over 70 percent of his greens in recent weeks and should have plenty of looks at birdie this week. If he can put it all together, he could be in line for his first win since 2015.
