Nedbank Golf Challenge Top 10 power rankings
Branden Grace was among the best of the rest in the non-Alex Norén category at last year’s Nedbank Golf Challenge. Playing in his home country, Grace tied for third place and was the only player to finish under par all four rounds.
For his career, Grace’s resume at Gary Player Country Club also includes a T20th/30 in 2013 and T4th/30 in 2015.
It’s not just at GPCC where he plays well in South Africa. The 29-year-old Pretoria native has two wins, four other top-fours and three more top-10s in 13 starts in South Africa since 2013, according to Rotoworld. He’ll continue to get a boost from the galleries this week.
..”the fans have been great. I don’t really get a lot of goose bumps anymore, but every time I tee it up at this place it’s phenomenal,” Grace said after last year’s third round. “Walking up 18 and getting on the 1st, the crowds have been great all week.”
After winning 10 times between 2012 and 2016, 2017 has been somewhat quiet. Grace’s did enter the spotlight by shooting 62 at the Open Championship en route to a T6, his best result of the year.
Of late, Grace completed all three legs of the Asian swing on the PGA Tour where he tied for 32nd at the CIMB Classic, T15 at the CJ Cup and T15 at the WGC-HSBC Champions. In that span, Grace is fourth on the PGA Tour in driving (77.98 percent) and 23rd in GIR (75.46 percent). Those numbers are near where he was in his heyday in recent years and show his potential when everything is firing.
