Molinari took last week off to gear up for an important week as he’s on the fringes of the Race to Dubai top 10 and amid a logjam of players from eighth to 20th.

It’s hard to believe the Italian, who turns 35 on Wednesday, has won just once since 2012. He’s come awfully close this year, finishing solo second at the BMW PGA Championship and T2 at the PGA Championship.

Molinari’s coming off of a mediocre T46 at the WGC-HSBC Champions, but before that went T12 at the BMW Championship and T6 at the Italian Open.

Historically at the Nedbank, he’s gone: 11th/12 in 2011, T7th/12 in 2012, and T12th/30 in 2013 in his last appearance.

Molinari would appear to be suitable for GPCC. He was sixth on the PGA Tour last season in driving accuracy (70.14) and 41st in GIR (67.28). Further, he was 24th in par breakers and this week looks to set up fairly well for scoring.

Molinari was third in GIR at the HSBC Champions but had a rough putting week. If that turns around at GPCC, his results could soon match how well he’s striping it as of late.
