PGA TOUR Power Rankings: OHL Classic at Mayakoba
This week, one of the PGA TOUR’s most visually stunning events is on tap. Who will come out on top in the power rankings for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba?
The PGA TOUR’s fall season takes us all over the world. From wine country in California, to a tour of Asia, back to Las Vegas last week, and now down to the sunny shores of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The OHL Classic at Mayakoba isn’t just one of the most visually stunning events on TOUR, but this year, it also boasts a field littered with some of the sport’s bigger names.
El Camaleon Golf Club was designed by Greg Norman, and it opened for play in 2006. It suffered through damage from Hurricanes Emily and Wilma as construction was finishing in 2005, but for more than a decade now, it has shined as one of Mexico’s premier golf destinations. Better yet, Norman’s environmentally friendly design practices also led El Camaleon to achieve Audubon certification within a year of opening. Come for the golf, stay for the beautiful vistas.
Of course, as many of us are preparing to hunker down for our long winters’ naps, we’re still here for the golf. The OHL Classic has steadily improved its position as a high-level “Fall Series” tournament, and this year it has the names to back it up. Presidents Cup leaders Rickie Fowler and Patrick Reed are in attendance. Defending champs include Harris English, John Huh, and more recent victors like Graeme McDowell and Pat Perez. Major winners and rising stars litter the field, too, including Zach Johnson and white-hot Web.com Tour graduate Chesson Hadley.
All in all, it’s shaping up to be an outstanding week of fall golf, and if you can’t be there to witness it in person, we’re here to get you ready at home. Let’s jump into the rankings.
