RSM Classic Power Rankings: Top ten at Sea Island
At Mayakoba last week, Zach Johnson made himself at home with Jonathan Byrd and Cameron Tringale to root on buddy Rickie Fowler on the 17th hole. This week, Johnson will literally be at home in Sea Island.
Perhaps he’s a little too comfortable playing in his backyard. Johnson’s played this event every year and has done no better than T12 in 2010. He’s made four cuts with a T16 included. Perhaps ZJ’s tends to dial his game back this time of year, but if he gets it going this fairways-and-greens course would seem to suit his style well.
He was 22nd in driving accuracy last season and should do better than normal finding the green (129th) on the shorter courses at Sea Island.
Johnson’s done alright for himself in his pair of starts this fall: T13 at the Safeway Open and T23 at the OHL Classic.
The 41-year-old Iowan is seeking his first win since the 2015 Open Championship.
