Charles Howell III has cashed a check after all four tournaments he’s played this fall. Granted, three on the Asian swing all featured guaranteed money, but Howell III hasn’t settled for last place.

He tied for 51st at the CIMB Classic, tied for 19th at the CJ Cup and tied for 15th at the WGC-HSBC Champions. Back in the states, his T4 at the OHL Classic last week was his best result since the summer.

On the year, Howell III has missed the weekend only twice and has runner-up finishes at the Farmers Insurance Open and Quicken Loans National. Howell III hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2007, but credit him for continuing to give himself chances.

Howel III has never missed a playing of the RSM Classic, and for good reason. Here’s his results at Sea Island — 2010: T6, 2011: T32, 2012: T7, 2013 T27, 2014 T73, 2015 T9, 2016 T13

He was in the mix to win last year on Sunday before a disappointing final-round 71.

If Howell III’s driver (162nd in accuracy last season) doesn’t steer him into trouble, he can take dead aim this week.
