RSM Classic Power Rankings: Top ten at Sea Island
Brian Harman’s shown no signs of slowing down during his career year in 2017.
His win at the Wells Fargo Championship in May and contending at the US Open (T2) have helped him to his current apex in the Official World Golf Rankings. In recent weeks, the 30-year-old tied for fifth at the CJ Cup and eighth at the WGC-HSBC Champions.
The former University of Georgia Bulldog and Savannah native, which is about an hour-and-a-half from Sea Island, should be treated warmly.
While Harman’s best golf has come in recent years, his best RSM Classic performances are in the past. He made the cut each year from 2012-14, including a T10 in 2013, but missed the cut the last two years.
Harman is not a big hitter, which is just fine at Sea Island. He’s above average off the tee in accuracy (70th in 2016-17) and is well equipped to get up-and-down off of the tight lies that are common at this event. Harman was fifth last season in strokes gained putting and 23rd in strokes gained around-the-green.
