PGA TOUR: RSM Classic top five sleeper picks
We have ourselves another Sea Island resident in Jonathan Byrd. He has a little more longevity than Poston as the veteran Byrd has called Georgia home for over a decade.
The 39-year-old has missed only one cut at the RSM Classic in six starts and tied for 21st in 2016. He nearly had an ace and was the 18-hole leader after firing a bogey-free 62 on the Seaside course.
Byrd, a five-time PGA Tour winner, toiled on the Web.com Tour in 2016 and ’17 before rising up to win the Web.com Tour Championship.
Now re-equipped with PGA Tour status, Byrd can parlay his newfound confidence into something substantial.
He finished 30th in putting and 31st in scrambling on the Web.com Tour last year, which should help him make another paycheck after a T61 at the OHL Classic last week.
