European Tour: UBS Hong Kong Open top 10 power rankings
There aren’t many tournaments global golfer Sergio García hasn’t teed it up at, but the UBS Hong Kong is one of them. At least until now.
García enters coming off of a fourth-place finish at the DP World Tour Championship and fourth in the season long Race to Dubai standings.
The 37-year-old Spaniard likened Hong Kong Country Club to a well-known course he’s won at in his home country.
“One of my favorite courses is Valderrama and I think the tree line at Hong Kong is similar, not exactly the same, but a lot of dog legs and the greens are not massive, so those are the kind of courses I like,” García told the South China Morning Post’s Andrew Mullen.
García co-led the European Tour with three victories in 2017. He’s missed only two cuts this year and owns six top-10s in 22 starts.
El Niño leads the European Tour in stroke average (69.3), is sixth in greens in regulation (74.5 percent) and is second in scrambling.
