Rafael Cabrera-Bello has had a steady 2017 season, climbing to No. 20 in the world and making the illustrious top 10 in the final Race to Dubai standings.

The 33-year-old Spaniard finally won for the first time since 2012 at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in July. RCB also tied for fourth at the Open Championship, tied for 10th at the CIMB Classic and tied for fifth at the WGC-HSBC Champions.

He’s improved each time coming to Hong Kong. RCB missed the cut in 2009, tied for 15th in 2011 and was solo second last year.  He held a three-stroke lead going into the weekend and finished just one off the lead in effort to join a long line of Spanish winners in Hong Kong.

"“Every Spaniard really wants to win in Hong Kong because of our past winners, with [Jose Maria] Olazabal and Miguel [Angel Jimenez] has had a lot of success there,” Cabrera-Bello told Nazvi Careem of the South China Morning Post. “It is one of our favorite events in Asia and Hong Kong, as a city, has so much to offer. So for us Spaniards it’s one of the tournaments we really want to win.”"

RCB was 42nd in GIR in 2017.
