This is the last chance we’ll see El Niño before he takes some time off for the winter. García hasn’t gone quietly into his break, either. He won the Andalucía Masters, tied for fourth at the DP World Tour Championship and tied for 19th last week at the UBS Hong Kong Open.

The year 2017 is a year of firsts for the 37-year-old Spaniard. García played in England in the regular season for the first time in over a decade at September’s British Masters and is now making his debut at the Australian PGA, perhaps for a lucrative appearance fee.

Either way, the Aussies are surely glad to have the 2017 Masters champion in attendance. He’s had a phenomenal year, racking up three wins worldwide and remaining in or near the world top 10 throughout.

García posted positive strokes gained stats in all major categories except for putting. He was fifth in strokes gained off the tee, 12th in SG tee-to-green and 40th SG around-the-green.

He won at a tough track in Valderrama at the Andalucía Masters and certainly has it in him to gut out a strong performance in the wind and rain this week if it comes down to it.
