Henrik Stenson Hero World Challenge
ANTALYA, TURKEY – NOVEMBER 02: Henrik Stenson of Sweden hits his second shot on the 1st hole during the first round of the Turkish Airlines Open at the Regnum Carya Golf /

Henrik Stenson battled through two very distinct phases in his 2017 PGA TOUR season. After two top-ten finishes in his first three starts, the big-hitting Swede missed five of his next six starts. That stretch included tough showings in both the Masters (77-75) and the U.S. Open (74-73).

That would have been enough to shatter the confidence of a younger, less experienced player, but Stenson forged on. He hasn’t missed a cut anywhere in the world since June, and he returned to the winner’s circle in August at the Wyndham Championship. The only remotely sour note in the last five-plus months for Stenson was a T-51 at the BMW Championship, which kept Stenson out of the TOUR Championship for the third time in the last four seasons.

Stenson’s been a little bit beat up recently, nursing a sore rib, but his great form can’t be ignored. He finished runner-up at last month’s WGC-HSBC Champions. He’s also run second in each of his last two trips to the Hero World Challenge, most recently last year. Look for a strong run to continue this week at Albany.
