Dean Burmester recorded his best Joburg Open finish in February with a T11. This year is his first full year on the European Tour, and the 28-year-old South African has handled it nicely.

Burmester’s missed just four cuts all year and was a winner at the European Tour and Sunshine Tour co-sanctioned Tshwane Open in March. He finished 41st in the final Race to Dubai standings

He has seven wins on the Sunshine Tour and is among several South Africans who have a realistic shot at finding the winner’s circle at the Joburg Open.

Burmester enters with good recent form with a T4 at the DP World Tour Championship where he finished with three rounds in the 60s. Last week, he tied for 27th at the Mauritius Open where he was fifth in driving distance (324.5 yards) and 19th in putts per round (28.5).

That falls in line with his 2017 season statistics. Burmester was seventh in putts per GIR and eighth in driving distance. He was also a modest 65th in GIR and 57th in scrambling, so if those perk up a little more then he could be in for a strong showing.
