Matt Wallace tore up the Alps Tour in 2016, and now he’s making a name for himself this year on the European Tour. The 27-year-old Englishman won the Challenge Tour and European Tour co-sanctioned Open de Portugal in May, which propelled him to keep his card and finish 70th in the Race to Dubai.

Wallace was in contention on Sunday to win Rolex Series event the Italian Open, where he settled for fourth place.

In his last start, Wallace tied for 34th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

His strength is on the greens where he finished 12th on the European Tour last season in putts per GIR. He’ll need more of the same this week as his driving accuracy and GIR marks were in the 100s.

Wallace has been learning from a former European Tour winner, Robert Rock.

“He’s teaching me things that work on the golf course and he knows what needs to be done. I wondered how it would work with Rocky, but he just said ‘Leave it with me,'” Wallace said in a European Tour player blog in September.
