The Christmas holiday brought out some of the best in the golf world, showing off how they celebrate the season.

Christmas day has come and gone, and golf fans everywhere are likely getting that itch again. While the winter hiatus on the major tours continues for a few more weeks, that didn’t stop some of the game’s big names from sharing their celebrations on social media.

From Santa-clad selfies, family traditions, and (more than) a few sponsor-driven contests, Twitter and Instagram have been jumping over the last few weeks. While this is nothing new in the overall world of entertainment, golfers are some of the most accessible celebrities on the planet. Chances to let their personalities shine separate them even further, especially at this time of year.

Sure, some of these celebrations are the kind that regular people like you and me could never understand. Ian Poulter, we’re looking in your direction. But for the most part, what’s fun here is that these people celebrate in much the same way as everyone else.

Christmas celebrations around the golf world

Justin Thomas couldn’t have had much left on his Christmas list for Santa Claus to bring him. He just finished a career season on the PGA TOUR, winning five tournaments along the way. He brought home his first major at the PGA Championship in August. And of course, you can’t forget the cherry on top – the FedEx Cup season title.

While Thomas gears up for the 2018 season, he’s making sure to spend plenty of time just kicking back with friends…and one green fellow we can only hope didn’t ruin the holiday.

Bubba Watson gave away a ton of prizes leading up to the holiday, through his annual “#BubbaClaus” promotions. He got a little bit of help from the elves at Oakley and Stance socks, to be sure, but it proved to be a lot of fun.

Of course, the holiday season isn’t just American, it’s worldwide. And what better way to make your holiday truly interesting, than with the most interesting man in golf sending you greetings? Miguel Angel Jimenez did just that, in his own perfect style.

Ian Poulter’s family kept the “Elf on the Shelf” tradition going strong, but a couple of those little buggers found their way into his very well-kept garage.

No worries, though, as the Poulter clan safely made their way to the Polar Express, matching pajamas and all.

Rory McIlroy kept things classy and classic, with a fully trimmed tree, and stockings hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Of course, St. Nicholas isn’t meant to be confused with the “Golden Bear”, a point Jack Nicklaus made sure to remind us all of this week.

And, of course, it looks like Jordan Spieth got his long-time girlfriend Annie Verret quite the early Christmas gift. Talk about spreading Christmas cheer!

And last, but certainly not least, Graham DeLaet doing quite possibly the most Canadian skit of all time. Bonus points for the TimBits, and for poking some much-needed fun at those “mashed potatoes” types.

Of course, that’s simply a taste of what’s out there on social media. For more, check in with our friends at GOLF.com, and let us know who your favorites are!
