Don’t look now, but Cameron Smith is on an incredible hot streak. The 24-year-old Aussie concluded four straight top-fives (and five straight top-12s) with a win at the Australian PGA Championship in December.

Smith qualified for the Tournament of Champions by virtue of his tandem win with Jonas Blixt at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

So far in 2017-18, Smith is top 10 in greens in regulation, birdie average and scoring average, just to name a few.

He had a stellar short game last season (eighth in strokes gained around-the-green), but we’ll see if his hot streak with the irons can continue after a month away from competition. Smith was a paltry 157th in greens in regulation last year.

He shouldn’t have much problem finding Kapalua’s large greens, though. Plus, finishing 12th last season in eagles is a good sign at a course with five par-5s on the card.
