I know they didn’t show him too much on Sunday’s broadcast, but, yes, there was another player playing alongside Dustin Johnson. While DJ cruised to an eight-stroke victory, Brian Harman was in that pairing grinding out a solo third-place finish.

Taking third bumped him up two spots in the world to his current career high 23rd ranking.

Top-10s are becoming old hat for Harman. The 30-year-old picked up his fourth straight, following up a T5 at the CJ Cup, eighth at the WGC-HSBC Champions and T4 at the RSM Classic.

Harman, once an elite junior player, grew into his own in the 2016-17 season with a win at the Wells Fargo Championship highlighting 10 top-10s.

At the Sony, Harman’s left the islands empty handed just once. Aside from a missed cut in 2013, Harman is 5-for-6 in cuts made at Waiaelae. His top results are a pair of T13s in 2015 and 2016. Last year, Harman tied for 20th with all four rounds in the 60s.

Early on in 2017-18, Harman is fourth in GIR and 11th in driving accuracy. This short course sets up well for the short hitter who is 212th in distance off the tee.
