Few in the field will be familiar with this week’s courses like Chuckie Three Sticks. Howell III, 38, is approaching two decades on the PGA Tour and the CareerBuilder Challenge has been a frequent stop.

This will be his 13th appearance in La Quinta, site of five top-15s including a T2 in 2013 where he lost a three-man playoff with David Lingmerth to Brian Gay.

Howell III tied for 12th here in 2017 and was T11 in 2016. His last 15 rounds in a row at this event are par or better, 14 of which were in red figures.

The former Oklahoma State University Cowboy comes into the week fresh off a T32 at the Sony Open. In the fall portion of 2017-18, Howell III picked up three top-20s including a T4 at the OHL Classic.

On the season, Howell III is 35th in GIR, 39th in total driving, 34th in fairway proximity and sixth in strokes gained around-the-green. Like others on this list, he has had a cold putter (184th strokes gained putting). Still, course knowledge and slower greens should help Howell IIII overcome his putting woes for another strong finish at the CareerBuilder.
