Statistically, Jason Dufner isn’t doing anything crazy so far in 2017-18. Nonetheless, he’s finding a way to get the ball in the hole.

Duf daddy comes into the week off of a T11 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and a T18 in the Sony Open.

No matter what type of form Dufner, 40, carries into CareerBuilder week, he’ll be among the favorites to win.

Dufner triumphed here in 2016 and had a nice title defense with a T25 in ’17. His 25-under-par mark in his win tied the second lowest winning score since the event reduced to 72 holes.

"“I’ve had a lot of good tournament rounds on these courses that we played. I think last year I spoke about the familiarity and playing well — the last time I was at Q-School was here — so a lot of good things have kind of come in these couple hundred acres right around here in my career,” Dufner said prior to the 2017 tournament, as transcribed by ASAP Sports. “So it’s always comfortable. And winning an event, you feel like you can play these golf courses well and it gives you a lot of confidence going into this week.”"

If Dufner can break par like he did last season (34th on Tour) rather than this one (105th), he’ll be in line to vie for his third win in as many seasons.
