Even if Bill Haas wanted to skip the CareerBuilder Challenge, I don’t think his caddie (or accountant) would let him. All he does at PGA West is take home hefty paychecks.

Outside of a T64 in 2012 and a missed cut in 2013, Haas has finished in the top 30 in each of his other 10 starts in La Quinta. More importantly, two of those 10 starts resulted in wins in 2010 and 2015. Haas has played this event every year since 2006 and hasn’t had an over-par round since Friday in 2007. In that span, Haas is 207-under-par, though this was a five-round event through 2011.

Haas tied for 17th in his last appearance in 2017.

The 35-year-old will look to get back on track at a place of comfort as he comes in off a missed cut at the Sony Open as well as a T62 and a missed cut in his final starts of 2017.

Haas is hitting the ball decently in 2017-18 (43rd in strokes gained tee-to-green), but he can’t get the ball in the hole (176th strokes gained putting). The greens won’t be too tricked up this week, so if Haas can dial in with his wedges, he’ll be someone to watch this week. It’s hard to believe he hasn’t won since 2015.
