Brandt Snedeker CareerBuilder Challenge DraftKings
ST SIMONS ISLAND, GEORGIA – NOVEMBER 16: Brandt Snedeker of the United States plays his tee shot on the second hole during the first round of The RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club Seaside Course on November 16, 2017 in St Simons Island, Georgia. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images) /

Brandt Snedeker has fallen to 63rd in the Official World Golf Ranking, a surprising low for one of the better players of the last decade. It’s a concerning trend, to be sure, but one that’s mostly been caused by inactivity and injury.

Over the past year, a chest injury forced the Vanderbilt alum to choose between rest (and inactivity) or a somewhat invasive surgery in which he would have a metal plate attached to his sternum.

He chose to rest, often going weeks without so much as hitting a golf ball, and instituted a new diet program to decrease inflammation in his body. Snedeker gutted it out for much of 2017, but after the Travelers Championship in June, he simply had to step away for a while.

Snedeker returned in November at the RSM Classic, finishing T-29. The veteran also played the unofficial QBE Shootout in Naples, Fla. in December, partnering with Bubba Watson to finish seventh. To be fair, though, they did combine for a sizzling first-round 59, even if it was only the third-lowest score of the day.

The fact is, when Snedeker is healthy – as he appears to be right now – he’s still got everything it takes to be one of the top players on the PGA TOUR. At just $7,700 on DraftKings, he’s worth the gamble this week.
