As we made note of earlier, this week’s tournament features a strong group of major stars on the PGA TOUR. Typically I would be looking for any reason I could justify to cap my lineup with the likes of white-hot Brian Harman ($11,500 on DraftKings) or Jon Rahm ($11,800). Frankly, I couldn’t blame anybody who does just that, but when you’re looking for pure value, you would be best served this week looking just a little bit further down the salary list.

I’m a big fan of Webb Simpson, and an even bigger fan now that he seems to have put the long putter woes behind him for good. The 32-year-old is currently ranked 38th in the world, and he’s been nothing short of excellent so far in the 2017-18 TOUR season.

Simpson opened his season with a pair of top-20 efforts at the Safeway Open and Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He withdrew from the RSM Classic after 36 holes to be with his ailing father, who sadly passed away a week later. After the winter break, Simpson returned in fine form at Waialae, posting 63-65 on the weekend to finish tied for fourth.

Simpson had his struggles at the CareerBuilder Challenge in 2017, but he posted a top-20 finish back in 2016, one of four top finishes he has recorded in his career here.

Simpson could easily pull off the win this week, and for nearly $2,000 less than the absolute top-priced stars, he’s more than worthy of a shot at anchoring your fantasy squad.
