Henrik Stenson has played this event every year since its origin in 2006, and it’s a mainstay on his schedule for a reason. The Swede has yet to win the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, but five top-10s and two more top-25s demonstrate he knows how to score well at Abu Dhabi GC.

Stenson tied for eighth in 2017 and matched the low round of the tournament with an eight-under 64.

Thanks to his win at the Wyndham Championship in August, Stenson is going for a worldwide win for the third year in a row and sixth in seven years. Along with his win, Stenson picked up two runner-up finishes and a third place along with two top-15s in majors.

At age 41, Stenson has played just 22 times in 2016 and 2017, but he makes the most of his starts and is still crushing the ball with accuracy. He was third on the European Tour in driving accuracy (74.3 percent) and fifth in greens in regulation (73.8 percent).

Stenson has won three times in Dubai, so the UAE/desert style of golf is right up his alley.

He went 2-1 last week at the EurAsia Cup.
