Act fast, because the Patrick Cantlay bandwagon is soon to depart at full capacity. After an unfortunate three years away from the game, the former world No.1 amateur and can’t-miss-kid earned his maiden PGA Tour victory at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in November.

A playoff win against Meen-Whee Kim and Alex Cejka isn’t the stuff of legends, but it looked like the beginning of more to come.

Cantlay climbed from 1,424th in the world after his 2017 debut at Pebble Beach to his current peak at No. 35. He stunningly made 14 of 14 cuts last year and finished inside the top 50 each team. He had chances to win at the Valspar (second place), Heritage (T3) and made it all the way to the TOUR Championship.

We saw flashes of his PGA Tour potential when he shot a 60 at the Travelers Championship at age 19. Now, he’s fleshing it out.

Cantlay kicked off his 2018 with a T15 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and comes in with two weeks of rest.

In his only Farmers Insurance Open start, Cantlay missed the cut in 2013.

The Long Beach native grew up just over 100 miles north of Torrey Pines.

Last season on the PGA Tour, Cantlay was 14th in strokes gained tee-to-green and was 13th in greens in regulation.
