Marc Leishman broke out for two wins last year and has shown up in several major championships in recent memory. It’s time to pencil in Leishman among those who have a chance to contend week in and week out.

This week’s Farmers Insurance Open is no exception. Leishman tied for 20th at Torrey Pines in 2017 and posted his career best here in 2014 and 2010 with a T2.

Of late, Leishman took on both ends of the Hawaii swing. He led after round one at Kapalua en route to a T7 and posted a T47 at the Sony Open.

Historically, Leishman’s better performances in the US have come on the east coast or midwest, but he’s shown he can get the job done anywhere on the planet.

In the late summer/early fall, Leishman won the BMW Championship in the US, finished second behind Justin Thomas at the CJ Cup in South Korea and tied for fourth in his home Australian PGA Championship.

The common fan may not realize Leishman’s now ahead of the likes of Jason Day and Adam Scott for top-ranked Aussie, but he’s steadily gotten better throughout his career. It’ll interesting to see if he can keep the trajectory upward starting at Torrey Pines.
