Jordan Spieth put it on cruise control to win at Pebble Beach in 2017. Will he find his way to the top of this week’s Power Rankings?

There have been years where the celebrities playing alongside the PGA Tour pros were the bigger story, but that’s not the case in 2018.

The world’s top three players — Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth — are all in California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Spieth is back to defend his title after rolling to a four-stroke victory in 2017.

Many others from the world’s top 50 are in the field for the penultimate leg of the West Coast swing.

The name of the game this week will be precise iron play. Pebble’s greens are small and mostly slope front to back. Leaving your ball below the hole and avoiding the long miss into the clumpy rough will be key. The rough won’t be in full effect as it’s been for past US Opens, but owning a trusty putter to handle the inconsistent poa annua greens trampled by pros and amateurs alike could come in handy.

Remember, this week is a 54-hole cut for top 60 and ties (rather than top 70) as Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula and the toughest of the three, Spyglass Hill, are in the fold.

Some of the notable celebrities teeing it up alongside the pros this week include Toby Keith, Tony Romo (a +0.3-handicapper), Larry Fitzgerald, Wayne Gretzky and Bill Murray.

While much of the United States toils in the latter stretches of winter, it’s time to escape with breathtaking shots of the Pacific coast. Here are 10 players who could grab the trophy as we gaze longingly at the postcard views of the Monterey Peninsula.
