PEBBLE BEACH, CA – FEBRUARY 16: Dustin Johnson poses with the trophy on the 18th green at Pebble Beach Golf Links after cancellation of the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am /

When Dustin Johnson won for the second time on the PGA Tour at the rain-shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2009, pictured above, it was clear to see the then 24-year-old was immensely talented.

That talent turned him into a US Open champion and world No. 1. Perhaps even more illustrious is he’s No. 1 in this week’s power rankings.

DJ’s near ace on a 400-plus yard par-4 at the Sony Open was just the latest example of his freakish abilities. He’s playing with a lot of confidence from that win in Hawaii. A T9 finish in his first time playing in Abu Dhabi a couple weeks ago is nothing to be disappointed in, either.

Here at Pebble Beach, Johnson repeated as champion in 2010. Also at this event, he tied for seventh in his debut in 2008, was T5 in 2012, T2 in 2014, T4 in 2015 and solo third last year. He’s played every year since ’08 and has missed one cut.

For some, playing golf with your in-law could be hell. When you’ve got a solid relationship with your father in-law who also just so happens to be Wayne Gretzky, maybe it’s actually an advantage.

“Obviously playing with Wayne, we have a great time out there. It’s a lot of fun this week,” Johnson was quoted by ASAP Sports last year. “It’s a special week, we don’t do this, it’s only once a year we play a tournament like this, but what a beautiful place when the weather’s nice.”
