Darius Rucker is one of the most talented artists in the world today. After 20 years as the frontman for Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker transitioned almost seamlessly into the world of country music. Ten years later with a pile of awards (and even more nominations) it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere anytime soon.

Of course, that’s music, and this is golf we’re here to talk about. If you’ve followed any part of Rucker’s career, you also know how big of a golf nut he is, taking time around any of his tour dates to hit the links. It’s no surprise, then, that the biggest week of his year matches up with most of ours. Rucker started his “Monday after the Masters” charity pro-am in 1994, and in the years since it’s exploded into one of the premier events outside of the grounds of Augusta National. Pros from Arnie to Tiger have headlined the tournament, alongside huge names from the world of sports and entertainment.

Playing to about a 5 or 6 handicap, Rucker isn’t so low that he’ll be at a disadvantage in this week’s competition, but that won’t likely be a big deal to him either way. Rucker truly loves golf, and when he gets a platform to use it for good, he takes it.

Then again, maybe he’ll have a little extra motivation this week to beat some of his Nashville counterparts. You can’t toss a Titleist this week without hitting a country star, including Clay Walker, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, Jake Owen, and Toby Keith, whose exploits on the course you might want to listen to with headphones on.
