Thorbjorn Olesen will seek to make the top 24 after missing out last year. The Dane can fall back on good times at Lake Karrinyup in 2014 when he won the Perth International at 17-under, a record in relation to par in the tournament’s brief four-year history as a pure stroke play event.

The 28-year-old missed the cut at last week’s Maybank Championship but made the weekend twice in the UAE, going T53 in Abu Dhabi and T29 in Dubai.

One key to match play is holing putts, and Olesen was fifth in putts per GIR last season on the European Tour. He was also 12th in scrambling, so Olesen will never be out of a hole.

The 2017 calendar year was Olesen’s first without a win since 2013. That drought extending through 2018 seems unlikely. Keep an eye on Olesen this week.
