NBO Oman Open: Power ranking the top ten at Al Mouj Golf
Just over a year ago, Shubhankar Sharma was a no name 20-year-old Indian player ranked No. 454 in the world. Now, he’s a two-time European Tour champion by age 21 and India’s top-ranked golfer.
It’s a little too soon to crown Sharma as a star. His two wins at the Joburg Open and Maybank Championship came against relatively weak fields. Nonetheless, he shot a combined 46-under-par in these two events.
Against strong fields in the UAE, Sharma made cuts in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He also owns a T11 at the Indonesian Masters.
Let’s see how Sharma does in the World Golf Championships. The first one comes in March. For now, he can try to ascend closer and closer to a coveted spot in the world top 50 and berths in all four majors. His trip to Carnoustie for the Open Championship is already in hand.
