Jorge Campillo shared the 54-hole lead two weeks ago at the Maybank Championship and shot 68 on Sunday. It wasn’t quite enough as Shubhankar Sharma raced by with a 62 to win by two, but it shows Campillo may not be far from his first career win.

The 31-year-old Spaniard kept his chin up after his best ever finish fell short of victory.

“I finished by myself so that’s quite positive. I’m very happy with that.”

There’s more than just the Maybank to pull good vibes from. Campillo tied for 12th at the BMW SA Open and was 14th in Abu Dhabi in 2018.

The journeyman seems to have things rolling after finishing 65th in the Race to Dubai in 2017.

Campillo is 28th in 2018 in GIR and 49th in driving distance.
