Honda Classic Power Rankings: Top ten golfers at PGA National
If anyone’s got the grit and short game to keep on chugging at PGA National, it’s Brian Harman. He’s finished in the top 20 on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting each of the last two years. He was also 23rd in strokes gained around the green.
A short hitter like Harman (116th on TOUR in driving distance) can get around fine with precision over power at this event.
The 31-year-old played some of his best golf of his career in 2017. Harman was in contention at the US Open, not long after his win at the Wells Fargo Championship (his first since 2014).
That strong play has carried into 2018. Harman finished solo third at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T4 at the Sony Open and T20 at the CareerBuilder Challenge.
Harman missed the cut in what was his fourth start in a row at the Farmer’s Insurance Open. Now rested after three weeks off, the former University of Georgia Bulldog should be revamped to tee it up in SEC country.
Harman’s 4-for-6 in cuts made at the Honda Classic, with a T12 in 2012 and T11 in 2015. He’s also the proud owner of the PGA National course record, thanks to his nine-under 61 in the second round of the 2012 Honda Classic. That’s always a nice thing to keep in your back pocket when you’re looking for a top contender.
