At this time last year, Hatton would have been considered a sleeper pick, much as Aphibarnrat is now. He shouldn’t be anymore.

Hatton’s T4 in his debut at the 2017 Honda Classic was a sign of good things to come for the Englishman who surged to finish fifth in the 2017 European Tour Order of Merit.

He’s solidified his status by maintaining his spot inside the world top 20 as he was last February.

I know a lot of great players are flying under the radar given the healthy state of the game, but ten consecutive top-20s around the world, two of them wins, warrants Hatton due respect.

He’ll come into this event off of three weeks of rest. The last time that was the case mid-season, Hatton tied for third at the Omega European Masters.

Given how well Hatton handled bermuda rough for the first time at PGA National in 2017, his comfort level should be higher around the greens.

Hatton finished 28th in putts per green in regulation last year on the European Tour and gained nearly two shots on the greens at the 2017 Honda.
