Gary Woodland’s victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open could be a sign of more to come.

The immensely talented 33-year-old won for the third time in his career and for the first time since 2013. I can’t expect too many folks out there monitor Woodland’s whereabouts each week, but if you follow the PGA Tour closely, you’ve seen how Woodland has slowly been on the uptick.

A missed cut two weeks ago at Pebble Beach snapped a streak of six made cuts in a row. He made it to the 2017 Tour Championship and followed with three top-20 finishes, including a T7 at the Sony Open, before his win in Phoenix.

He appears to have a fresh outlook on life after going through a tough 2017 for him and his family.

Woodland should also have a positive outlook coming to the Honda Classic. He’s 5-for-5 in cuts made with a T6 in 2011 and T2 in 2017. Last year he closed with three rounds in the 60s.

This season he’s striping the ball well enough to take his fleeting short game out of the equation. Woodland’s second on Tour in greens in regulation and fifth in proximity from the fairway.
