Qatar Masters Power Rankings: Top ten at Doha Golf Club
One of Japan’s top golfers, Hideto Tanihara, had some impressive performances around the world in 2017. He was introduced to PGA Tour fans by advancing to the semifinals of the WGC-Match Play (after beating Jordan Spieth on day 1), then soon went across the pond to tie for third at the BMW PGA Championship and go T10 at the Irish Open.
Consistency on the big tours is still somewhat fleeting for the 39-year-old Tanihara. With his putting ability, though, he’s able to find ways to win at a lot of different types of courses.
The window could be starting to close for Tanihara to pick up his first European Tour win. For someone who’s been inside the top 100 for long stretches by gobbling up world ranking points on the Japan Tour, it’s time to validate that rank.
If he can build off a T5 a few weeks ago at the Maybank Championship, Tanihara could be in for a nice Qatar Masters debut.
