MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – MARCH 04: Sergio Garcia of Spain plays his tee shot on the fifth hole during the third round of the World Golf Championships Mexico Championship at Club De Golf Chapultepec on March 4, 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico. (Photo by Justin Heiman/Getty Images) /

Sergio Garcia didn’t light it up at his 2018 PGA Tour debut at the Honda Classic, but scores of 72-70-72-71 at vaunted PGA National are fine by me when you’re shaking off the rust. He hit the ball close to normal levels, but his balky putter cost him about two strokes to the field on the week.

Get the flat stick rolling, and Garcia can easily contend this week. If not, well, he still can help out your fantasy team.

Despite finishing 43rd in last year’s WGC-Mexico field in putts per GIR, Garcia tied for 12th in the tournament by peppering greens in vintage fashion.

Garcia has a win under his belt in January at the Asian Tour’s Singapore Open.

Plus, the Spanish-speaker may have a few extra fans in the galleries to urge him along.
