After a one-week detour in Mexico, the PGA Tour has returned to Florida for the Valspar Championship

Last week’s WGC-Mexico Championship was a bit of a reprieve for players in between two demanding Florida tournaments.

US Open-like scoring broke out at the Honda Classic two weeks ago. The Valspar Championship this week is no slouch, either. The Copperhead course at Innisbrook is regarded as one of the PGA Tour’s toughest test tee to green.

Tight fairways and a variety of hole designs value placement off the tee, shot shaping and putting. The final three holes play as some of the toughest on the PGA Tour and are part of the infamous “Snake Pit.”

Distance is useful around this par-71, 7,340-yard track, but this is very much a second-shot golf course. Water hazards are minimal, so good players from the rough can hang around (paging Tiger Woods).

The past five years’ average winning score is just under 10-under-par.

While demanding, Innisbrook is a favorite among Tour pros. A few players in this top 10 have sung its praises on the record.

This event again falls on college basketball’s Selection Sunday, but Woods’ and Rory McIlroy’s presence will certainly attract more eyeballs to this year’s event.

Here are ten names who could climb the leaderboard in Palm Harbor this week:
