Stenson’s making only his fourth Valspar Championship appearance this week. Something tells me that number will continue to grow.

The Swede’s results at this event read: 4-11-T7 from 2015-17. He’s a cumulative 18-under-par over 216 holes, which is more impressive than it might appear.

Stenson is able to execute the right game plan to succeed at Innisbrook.

"“It’s because of the second shots, both on the par 3s and the par 4s, a lot of times it’s those kind of mid-irons. It’s the 5-, 6-, 7-, 8-irons into the greens, and when I’m hitting it well, then that’s the strong part of my game,” Stenson said in 2017. So it’s going to set up a lot of birdie chances.”"

Stenson’s kept his playing schedule light in the past two years. More of the same is the case so far in 2018 as he’s made just three worldwide starts so far. Two were top-10s and another a made cut.

The 41-year-old comes in off of four weeks of rest since last teeing it up at the European Tour’s Maybank Championship in Malaysia. Two of the last three events he played in after four-plus weeks off mid-season resulted in T2 finishes.

If Stenson isn’t too rusty, he’s a solid pick to score well for all four days.
