In just his second PGA Tour start in 2018, El Niño was on the cusp of contention last week at the WGC-Mexico Championship. His T7 finish against a competitive field should get him rolling as he ramps up for Augusta.

Garcia hasn’t played enough for his statistics to count toward the PGA Tour rankings, but his 1.381 strokes gained tee-to-green mark is impeccable. The Spaniard’s hitting nearly 70 percent of greens in regulation and is carding nearly 4.5 birdies per round.

This will be Garcia’s first Valspar Championship appearance since 2013.

Perhaps he should make a habit of returning more often; he’s 5-for-5 making the weekend with a T7 in ’13 as his high finish.

Garcia has made seven cuts in a row worldwide.

A win this week would be his first win in a traditional PGA Tour event since the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson.
