Fantasy Golf: Arnold Palmer Invitational DraftKings picks
In DraftKings daily fantasy, we need to make sure we have some consistency in our lineups. This week, we’re not going too heavy at the top of our salary list, so we’ve got some room to move dollars in the mid-range. Enter Zach Johnson.
You probably aren’t thinking too much of ZJ these days, are you? After all, he hasn’t won since hoisting the Claret Jug back in 2015. That two-and-a-half year drought sounds concerning at first, until you remember that he’s been contending basically every week this season. In seven starts so far, Johnson has placed inside the top-25 six times.
Looking for course history to back up your player? Well, Johnson’s scored top-tens at Bay Hill twice in the last three years (2015, 2016), and five in his career. He’s missed the cut just once, so you probably don’t have to worry too much about losing a potential scorer early with this pick.
Johnson isn’t necessarily a deadly putter, but the good news for you is that he doesn’t have to be. His approach game has been on point this year, hitting 68.85% of greens in regulation. And when he hits, he’s pin-hunting: Johnson ranks fourth on TOUR in proximity on approach. That combination has placed Johnson among some of the better scorers out there today. He’ll bring that to Bay Hill, so make sure you have him on your roster.
