Houston Open Power Rankings: Top ten players at Golf Club of Houston
Luke List’s WGC-Match Play debut didn’t go as planned, but I’m not jumping off the bandwagon. Almost anyone would snap their putter having to play Justin Thomas these days. Plus, List fought awfully hard having to putt with his sand wedge, so give him credit for that.
Match play dalliances aside, List is in fine form. He made a playoff at the Honda Classic and got right back on the horse for a T16 at the Valspar and a T7 at the Arnold Palmer.
It’s his third year on the PGA Tour and the big hitter is beginning to grow more and more comfortable. He’s third on the Tour in distance and top 25 in strokes gained around the green. Like so many bomb and gouge players like him, it comes down to the putter. He’s near the bottom in strokes gained putting but did alright to post a T3 here in 2017.
He’s not in the field at Augusta – yet – meaning the 33-year-old will be hungry to pick up career win No. 1 here in Houston.
