Houston Open Power Rankings: Top ten players at Golf Club of Houston
Once upon a recent time, Rickie Fowler was one of the first names that came to mind to win at Augusta. Of little fault of his own, he’s flying more under the radar these days given how the likes of JT, DJ, Rory, Phil and Tiger are all squeezing him out of the limelight.
The history of players winning the week before the Masters isn’t great, but Fowler doesn’t seem like the type to shy away from that challenge. Toward the end of 2017, he was in contention almost every week, but hasn’t quite found the next gear in 2018.
He could find his game at the Houston Open where he has three top-10s and six made cuts in six starts. He’s 25-under-par in the last two years, placing T10 and T3.
A course full of hazards like the Golf Club of Houston didn’t suit a young, aggressive Rickie Fowler very well. Now with less of a go-for-broke style, Fowler can still rack up birdies here without throwing the tournament away.
