Fantasy Golf: Houston Open DraftKings Value Picks
Thomas Pieters has been struggling to find the heights he reached in his 2017 PGA TOUR campaign, with just one top-25 finish so far in seven starts. However, he’s been a made-cut machine, at a perfect six-for-six in stroke play events, and 13-for-13 worldwide. Pieters struggled in the round robin portion of the WGC-Dell Match Play last week, but that game is an entirely different beast, so take that with a grain of salt.
This is the Belgian’s first trip to Houston, but I’m looking for him to find some extra motivation ahead of the Masters. Houston’s attempts to mirror the conditions players will face at Augusta National are well known, and that should play right into Pieters’s hands. He finished tied for fourth at last year’s Masters, even with some blemishes on the scorecard.
His stats this year don’t do his potential justice, but that’s where the value comes in. Pieters is a pretty safe bet to make the weekend in Houston, so you’re already a step ahead of the game in DraftKings play. Sure, there’s a bit of risk here, but that’s the name of the game. When he gets hot – and he’s too good not to – you’ll be there to reap the rewards.
