Daniel Berger DraftKings Fantasy Golf Houston Open

On the last page we called Keegan Bradley a horse for the course. That’s a great thing to have when it comes to DFS play, of course. But if Bradley is a horse, consider Daniel Berger a pure thoroughbred.

At first glance, you wouldn’t think that Berger’s season justifies his otherwise premium level salary of $9400 on DraftKings. “Solid, but unspectacular” is probably the best way to describe it. In eight stroke-play starts, he’s made seven cuts, with five top-25 finishes. He hasn’t cracked the top-ten just yet, but he does have a pair of T-11 finishes (Sentry, Phoenix) and a pair of T-14’s (Sony, WGC-Mexico) in 2018.

When it comes to Houston, though, Berger shines. In his three career starts, he’s gone from a tie for 25th, to a tie for fifth in 2016, to a solo fifth-place last year. In those 12 rounds, he’s only shot par or worse twice. Compare that to five rounds in the 60s, and you’ve got yourself a good recipe for success.

The best talent Berger brings to the table is his putting. Already recognized as a wizard on Bermuda grass – having grown up in Florida and playing college golf at Florida State – he currently ranks 29th on TOUR in strokes gained putting. Berger should be solidly on track to record his first top-ten of the year. Make sure to get him in your lineups as quickly as possible.
