You’re going to need this “Hello Friends” shirt for The Masters
It’s a tradition unlike any other and you need this “Hello Friends” shirt from BreakingT to watch The Masters in.
For golf fans, it gets no better than The Masters. Perhaps the most beautiful course on the planet plays host to the best golfers in the world, and the results are always incredible.
As is the trademark intro from Jim Nantz.
A tradition that began way back in 2002, Nantz’s signature line that begins every CBS broadcast he does, “Hello Friends,” is one that everyone knows. Even non-sports fans have heard it. There’s something about it that is unique and genuine.
That’s probably due to the fact that Nantz began using the line to connect with his father, who was dealing with Alzheimer’s.
Nantz explained it on The Dan Patrick show in April 2017. You can check out the interview below.
“I said it on Saturday’s third round (of the PGA Championship at Hazeltine in 2002),” Nantz told Patrick. “My father was deep in the throes of his battle that he would lose in 2008 to Alzheimer’s and he had faint recognition of his son. The last thing I said to him earlier in the week was ‘I’m going to say a little cryptic message to you on the air this weekend, and it’s ‘Hello, friends.” Because my dad had nothing but friends in his life.”
It’s a heart-warming story – and it makes perfect sense why the line feels so real.
Now, you can rep one of the most iconic intros in the history of sports with BreakingT’s newest t-shirt.
It’s an introduction – and a week in Georgia – unlike any other.
