The Masters Power Rankings: Top ten picks to don the green jacket
DJ was hurtling toward Augusta this time last year as new No. 1 until he was forced to withdraw due to the infamous slippery stairs fiasco.
He’s not on the same heater this time around, but DJ is still No. 1 for a reason. He’s grew to be an underrated putter and can really cash in on Augusta’s par-5s. Johnson is first on Tour in par-breakers and strokes gained off-the-tee.
It may not matter to Johnson, but he could lose his world No. 1 ranking with a poor showing this week. Just breaking through for a green jacket should be motivation enough.
He finished T6 and T4 in his last two starts and is 6-for-7 in cuts made at the Masters.
"“I’m definitely looking forward to it this year,” Johnson told the Augusta Chronicle. “You know, I was very disappointed I didn’t get to play last year, but things happen. “So you’ve just got to roll with it. But yeah, it’s a place where I always love going to play. I feel like I really like the golf course.”"
DJ won the season-opening Tournament of Champions and has yet to finish worse than T16 in a 2018 stroke play event.
