HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – APRIL 15: Brian Harman waits to hit a tee shot on the 17th hole during the third round of the 2017 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links on April 15, 2017 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images) /

Harman is on a more level playing field at Harbour Town. Sitting at 153rd in distance isn’t too meaningful here, and, honestly, it hasn’t mattered much anywhere.

The 5-foot-7 American still averages a healthy 290.1 yards off the tee and more than makes up for it in other facets. He’s 10th on Tour in fairways, fifth in greens in regulation and seventh in strokes gained putting. If for whatever reason he’s spraying the ball, Harman is sixth in proximity from the rough.

He’s top 70 in all strokes gained categories. Harman’s well-rounded game has produced three top-10s in 2018 (four if you count making the round of 16 at the WGC-Match Play as a T9).

He tied for 44th last week in Augusta and has made five of six cuts this year.

Harman is from 30 minutes southwest in Savannah, Georgia, so he’ll have plenty of support this week. He finished T9 in 2017, T7 in ‘14 and has played the weekend five times in six starts.

All signs point toward a solid finish for Harman, who could be just a win away from icing a debut spot on the American Ryder Cup team. This is a great place to try to get it.
